The Antigua and Barbuda Olympic Association is once again a recipient of a Canadian SportWORKS Officer (CSO) under the Commonwealth Games Association of Canada Internship Programme. As CSOs on year-long placements that began in January 2013, these young people will assist Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) and National Olympic Committees (NOCs) in various countries building sport capacity through activities including programming, fundraising, communications, and team management.

Christine Wong is the CSO assigned to the Antigua and Barbuda Olympic Association. Her abilities of planning, coordinating and implementing events/programs, evaluating and assessing programs, capacity building, management and training of staff and volunteers, community development, fundraising, report writing, and marketing and promotion of events are just some of the skills she possesses that makes her a great selection.

One of her main roles at the ABOA is to contribute to the overall development and provide capacity support. She plans on being able to take part in games preparation and just to gain the overall experience. “I love it, the office staff is great and I am learning a lot so far. It’s great being able to meet other persons in sports and the office is very comfortable” as quoted by Christine when asked how her experience is so far. She continued by stating, “I’m excited to take part in the Cultural Tradition, Sailing Week, Carnival, and getting involved in the community.”

The ABOA is very pleased with our selection and we look forward to showing Christine our way of sports in Antigua and Barbuda.
