Jamol Pilgrim

Every Antiguan and Barbudan, whether at home or in the diaspora, looks forward with great pride to see the nation’s lone athlete, Jamol Pilgrim, in the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Paralympics, lined up on the track to compete in the 100m dash during the Paralympics.

Pilgrim, at age 21 is the first ever Antigua and Barbuda citizen to compete in the Paralympics. His story is one of courage, bravery and determination and serves to inspire persons with disability to pursue their dreams. Not daunted by the loss of limb resulting from a vehicle accident, Pilgrim returned to the track with a determination to succeed.
