This year’s Olympic Day celebration was done with a twist. The Antigua and Barbuda Olympic Association had a week of activities from 15th – 21st June which included an Open House at the Olympic Office on day 1, the official launch of the event on Good morning Antigua/Barbuda on day 2, promotions on Good morning Jo-Jo on day 3, and distribution of tee shirts on day 4. Day 5 was rather unique; for the first time, there was a night dedicated to mind games. These included Bridge, Chess and Domino. The night offered an opportunity to the public to learn from the professionals from each sport.

The Official Run/Walk was held on Sunday, June 21st, 2015. A total number of 650 participants joined in support of the Olympic Movement and its values as well as to continue with the promotion and implementation of the theme – “Move, Learn and Discover”.

The event commenced with a warmup SocaRobix  session with Tony ‘the Tiger’ Jacobs and his Tiger Fitness team, followed by the call to order by Randy Allen, National Anthem, Prayer, and the reading of the IOC President’s Message – done by NOC Executive Member and Chairperson of the Olympic Academy & Legacy Committee, Mrs. Jo-Ann Small. The walk proceeded after.

In an effort of highlighting our sporting venues, the route was carefully fine-tuned. Participants were afforded the opportunity of having their photo taken with Olympians at the YMCA Sports Complex, the National Tennis Centre, Yasco and the Antigua Recreation Grounds as they walked through the city of St. John’s.

Upon return to the secretariat, light refreshments were served and certificates were presented to all participants by the NOC Executive Members and Staff.
