The 2nd Youth Olympic Games were held in Nanjing, China from August 14th – 29th, 2014. Antigua and Barbuda’s delegation consisted of 5 athletes and 3 officials from 3 disciplines; Athletics, Sailing and Swimming. The team was led by Chef de Mission, Kelesha Antoine.

Nanjingers, young and old, embraced the Games and in return the world’s best young athletes – all 3880 of them representing 203 NOCs - reciprocated feelings of joy and a willingness to share the city’s, and China’s, tremendous hospitality.

In Athletics, Coull Graham placed 5th in his heat (200m) in 22.08secs which landed him a spot in the finals where he placed 6th in a time of 22.34secs. Bliss Soleyn won her heat (100m) with a time of (PB) 11.77secs. She ran to 4th place in the finals in 11.77s.

Swimmer Gabriella John placed 4th in heat 1 (100m breaststroke) in a time of 1:19:65 which did not qualify her to compete in the finals. She later got DSQ in the 200m Breast. Noah Mascoll-Gomes placed 3rd in heat 1 (200m Freestyle) in 2:01:69. He later placed 5th in his heat (100m Free) in 55.22secs. Noah did not qualify for the finals in either events.

Sailor, Rhone Kirby participated in the Byte CII-One Person Dinghy. After 7 races, Rhone secured a spot in the finals where he ranked 24 with 132 points.
